Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)
A mission introduced under NEP 2020 to ensure every child in India can read with comprehension and perform basic arithmetic by the end of Class 3.
Why FLN matters
Research has shown that children who do not achieve grade-level reading by Class 3 struggle throughout their schooling. FLN is the foundation on which every later subject is built.
How FLN is taught at Yajur
Phonics-led English, oral and number sense in Math, story-based reading in Telugu/Hindi, and continuous teacher observation replace high-stakes tests in the early years.
