A child should typically be 3 years old as of 1 June of the academic year for Pre-KG admission. At Yajur Public School we follow the same threshold, with a small grace window for children whose birthdays fall in June or July.

As of 1 June 2026, the typical ages are: Pre-KG, 3 years, Sr KG, 4 years, Class 1, 5 years, Class 2, 6 years, Class 3, 7 years, and so on up to Class 9 at 13 years. Yajur Public School admits Pre-KG to Class 9 for 2026-27.

Skipping a grade is not standard practice in Telangana. In rare cases, a written request and a readiness assessment can be considered, but most schools encourage age-appropriate enrolment for social and emotional development.

Older children are admitted to the age-appropriate grade after a readiness assessment. The Right to Education Act protects a child's right to age-appropriate admission up to Class 8, and we follow the same principle.
