The Quest 2026 Scholarship Test: What to Prepare

Quest 2026 is Yajur Public School's annual scholarship test, offering tuition fee waivers from 25% to 100% for top scorers across Pre-KG to Class 7. It is optional and open to incoming students. Here is exactly what to prepare and what to expect.

Format

• Online or on-campus — your choice.
• Duration: 45 minutes for primary, 60 minutes for upper primary.
• Sections: literacy, numeracy and one reasoning component.
• Pre-KG and LKG candidates participate in an observation-based assessment rather than a written test.

What to prepare

1. For literacy — read regularly. Comprehension questions reward children who read widely, not those who memorise.
2. For numeracy — focus on number sense, mental math and one or two grade-appropriate worded problems. Not speed drills.
3. For reasoning — pattern recognition, simple logic, picture-based reasoning. Practise with newspaper puzzles or age-appropriate books.
4. For Pre-KG/LKG — sleep well, eat breakfast, be relaxed. The assessment looks at curiosity, social skills and basic motor coordination.

What not to do

• Don't enrol in three coaching classes the month before. The test is not coaching-driven.
• Don't tell your child their fees depend on the result. Pressure ruins performance.
• Don't cram. Two weeks of light review beats two months of frantic preparation.
• Don't borrow last year's papers — the test changes each year.

After the test

Results are shared within 14 working days. Scholarship offers come with the standard admission terms — fee waiver applies to tuition only, not transport, books or uniform. The waiver is renewable each year subject to academic performance and conduct.

What scoring really means

Quest scores are not just a measure of current performance. We design the test to spot aptitude, curiosity and reasoning — qualities that respond to the kind of teaching we offer. A child who scores well on Quest is a child who is likely to thrive in an Oxford International Curriculum classroom. A child who does not score well is not 'failing'; the test simply did not surface their strengths. Many such children flourish at Yajur on the regular admission track.

The waiver itself is a recognition of merit and a small gesture of confidence in the family. It is not a discount-driven enrolment scheme. We expect Quest scholars to maintain consistent effort, engage with the curriculum and contribute to the school community. The waiver is reviewed annually based on these expectations rather than only on exam scores.

Logistics

• Registration is free.
• Online tests can be taken at home with a parent present.

Conversations with your child before Quest

Talk about Quest in low-key language. 'It's a chance to show what you enjoy and what you're curious about.' Avoid 'we really need this scholarship' or 'a lot is riding on this'. Children take on parental stress invisibly. The test is designed to be friendly, not punitive — make sure the conversation around it matches.

On the day, get to the campus or the device 20 minutes before start time. Walk through the bathrooms. Have water and a small snack. Remind your child that there is no penalty for skipping a hard question and moving on. Sit nearby but out of view if it is an online test — children perform better when they cannot see a parent watching.

After the result

Whatever the outcome, separate it from the child's worth. A scholarship is a nice opportunity; not getting one is not a failure. Many families who do not win Quest scholarships still join Yajur and thrive. Some who win it choose another school for valid family reasons. The test is a moment, not a judgement.
